An Aer Lingus Airbus A321-200, registration EI-CPE performing flight EI-490 from Dublin (Ireland) to Faro (Portugal) with 181 people on board, was climbing out of Dublin's runway 10 when the crew stopped the climb at FL080 reporting the right hand engine (CFM56) had been shut down due to vibrations. The aircraft entered a holding at 5000 feet to work the related checklists and burn off fuel and returned to Dublin for a safe landing on runway 10 about 30 minutes after departure.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration EI-DEJ reached Faro with a delay of 4 hours.
