An Aerolineas Argentinas Airbus A340-300, registration LV-CSD performing flight AR-1141 from Rome Fiumicino (Italy) to Buenos Aires Ezeiza,BA (Argentina) with 250 people on board, was climbing out Rome's runway 16R when the crew stopped the climb at FL250 due to developing engine #4 (CFM56, outboard right hand) problems, dumped fuel and returned to Rome for a safe landing on runway 16L about 130 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled.

Witnesses on the ground reported there were loud noises during the initial climb of the aircraft around 19:58L (17:58Z).

The incident aircraft received damage to its outboard right hand engine as result of a bird strike and is currently being repaired.
