A Flybe de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration G-JECI performing flight BE-831 from Birmingham,EN to Inverness,SC (UK) with 73 people on board, was enroute at FL240 about 100nm north of Birmingham when the crew decided to return to Birmingham reporting a hydraulic leak. The aircraft landed safely back in Birmingham about 80 minutes after departure.

A replacement Embraer ERJ-170 registration G-FBJJ reached Inverness with a delay of 3 hours.

The airline confirmed a technical problem.

Emergency services at Birmingham Airport reported they were alerted for an incoming Dash 8-400 with a hydraulic leak.
