A British Airways Boeing 747-400, registration G-BNLV performing flight BA-85 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Vancouver,BC (Canada), was enroute at FL340 about 150nm south of Faroe Islands when the crew decided to return to London Heathrow due to a thrust reverser indication (engine RB211). The aircraft landed safely back on Heathrow's runway 27R about 90 minutes later.

The flight was postponed over night. A replacement Boeing 747-400 registration G-CIVD departed as flight BA-9601 with a delay of 24 hours.
