A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700, registration N766SW performing flight WN-1516 from San Jose,CA to San Diego,CA (USA) with 75 people on board, was enroute at FL410 about 70nm north of Los Angeles,CA when the crew received a cargo smoke indication and decided to divert to Los Angeles for a safe landing on runway 24R about 20 minutes later. Attending emergency services did not detect any traces of fire, smoke or heat.

A replacement Boeing 737-300 registration N623SW reached San Diego with a delay of 2 hours.
