A Cargolux Boeing 747-800 freighter, registration LX-VCI performing flight CV-870 from Luxembourg (Luxembourg) to Beirut (Lebanon), completed what appeared to be an unventful flight with a safe landing on Beirut's runway 16.

A post flight inspection revealed however, that a wing panel, size 1.5 by 2 meters, not part of the wing's central structure, was missing from the aircraft. The panel contacted the aircraft's tail plane however left no damage when it separated from the aircraft. The aircraft is going to be repaired in Beirut.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Beirut about 59 hours after landing.
