A Solomon Airlines de Havilland Dash 8-100, registration H4-SOL performing flight IE-803 from Gizo to Honiara (Solomon Islands), was climbing out of Gizo when the crew received indications for the left hand engine (PW120) that prompted the crew to shut the engine down. The crew decided to continue the flight to Honiara, about 200nm from Gizo, and landed safely at the destination.

The airline reported the crew received indications that made it necessary to shut the left hand engine down as a precaution. After assessing the situation and considering all options the crew decided to continue to Honiara where the aircraft landed safely. Repairs requiring spare parts to be flown in were performed and the aircraft was expected to return to service on Apr 29th.
