A Nordwind Airbus A321-200, registration VQ-BOD performing flight N4-5938 from Sharm el Sheikh (Egypt) to Ufa (Russia) with 223 passengers and 9 crew, was climbing out of Sharm el Sheikh when the crew received an abnormal engine (CFM56) indication, stopped the climb and returned to Sharm el Sheikh for a safe landing.

A replacement A321-200 registration VQ-BOE reached Ufa with a delay of 5 hours.

VQ-BOE had flown N4-5937 into Sharm el Sheikh, however, VQ-BOD was scheduled to depart Sharm el Sheikh as N4-5838 while VQ-BOE should have remained in Sharm el Sheikh. Following the return of VQ-BOD, VQ-BOE performed the flight.
