A Vueling Airbus A320-200, registration EC-KLT performing flight VY-6283 from Genoa to Rome Fiumicino (Italy) with 54 passengers, was accelerating for takeoff from Genoa's runway 28 when the crew rejected takeoff at low speed after an engine (CFM56) emitted a loud bang and failed. The aircraft slowed safely and returned to the apron.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers were offered a refund or rebooking onto a later flight.
