A Vueling Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration EC-KLT performing flight VY-8307 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Barcelona,SP (Spain), was on final approach to Barcelona's runway 02.

A Ryanair Boeing 737-800, registration EI-EPA performing flight FR-7808 from Barcelona,SP (Spain) to London Luton,EN (UK), was cleared for takeoff from Barcelona's runway 06R, crossing the extended centerline of runway 02 just before the runway 02 threshold, and commenced takeoff.

The A320 climbed back to 4000 feet, positioned for another approach to runway 02 and landed safely 18 minutes later. The Ryanair continued takeoff and landed safely at Luton Airport about 2 hours later.

On Jun 17th 2022 Spain's CIAIAC reported the airport was in a cross runway configuration with takeoffs from runway 06R and landings on runway 02. There were no injuries and no damage. The occurrence is being investigated.
