A Hawaiian Airlines Airbus A330-200, registration N384HA performing flight HA-33 from Los Angeles,CA to Kahului,HI (USA), was enroute at FL400 about 600nm southwest of Los Angeles when the crew detected a hydraulic leak, turned back to Los Angeles initially but decided to divert to San Francisco (600nm distance, too), where the aircraft landed safely 3.5 hours after departure.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
