A passenger reported that a burning smell developed in the forward cabin, a short time later smoke was noticed rising from a seat in row 10. Passengers were moved from the forward to the aft cabin, 2 or 3 fire extinguishers were discharged, the inflight entertainment was switched off. Passengers were later told that an inflight entertainment box had been identified as source of the smoke.
The occurrence aircraft did not continue its schedule but remained on the ground in Colombo for about 13 hours before resuming service.
