A South African Express Canadair CRJ-200, registration ZS-NME performing flight SA-1405 from Johannesburg to East London (South Africa), landed on East London's runway 11 and taxied to the apron following what appeared to be an uneventful flight.

South Africa's Civil Aviation Authority reported in their occurrence list of August 2014 however, that ground engineers advised the crew the lower cowl of the left engine (CF34) was missing. A subsequent search located the missing parts on runway 11 of East London. An investigation into the incident is in progress.
