The crew advised air traffic control, that after disconnecting the autopilot on the ground for a manual roll out a technical malfunction occurred that caused the aircraft to veer sharply to the right. The aircraft's nose gear was to the right of the runway's sector 2 on grass.
A number of aircraft on (final) approach to runway 18R needed to be pulled off the approach.
Passengers reported the crew announced after the abrupt stop that there had been a brakes problem.
On Feb 12th 2015 the Dutch Safety Board (DSB) reported in their quarterly bulletin, that the crew performed an automatic landing on runway 18R, the aircraft touched down normally, spoilers deployed and autobrakes activated, and the aircraft rolled out tracking the center line. After passing the first intersection the crew disengaged autobrakes via the brakes pedals as the crew felt sufficient runway length was available and less braking was needed. While braking manually the aircraft began to veer right, the crew countered by left rudder input and increased left brakes pressure, the aircraft however continued to veer right and exited the paved surface of the runway with its nose gear. The DSB reported the occurrence is being investigated by the airline.
