An Air Tahiti Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A, flight VT-534 from Papeete to Rangiroa (Tahiti) with 57 passengers, was climbing through 6000 feet out of Papeete when both engines lost power for about 20 seconds before the crew was able to restore power using different engine settings. The crew decided to return to Papeete for a safe landing.

A replacement ATR-72-212A reached Rangiroa with a delay of about 2 hours.
