An Air New Zealand Boeing 777-300, registration ZK-OKP performing flight NZ-1 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Los Angeles,CA (USA), was enroute at FL360 in Canadian Airspace about 400nm north of Minneapolis,MN (USA) and 190nm northeast of Winnipeg,MB (Canada), when the crew reported a medical emergency on board, decided to divert to Minneapolis and turned south. The crew subsequently reported a 10 year old boy suffered from diabetes, first aid was provided by cabin crew. The aircraft landed safely on Minneapolis' runway 30L about 70 minutes after turning south. Waiting medical staff took care of the boy and took him to a local hospital. The aircraft continued the journey after about 2 hours on the ground and reached Los Angeles with a delay of 2:45 hours.
