An Egypt Air Boeing 737-800, registration SU-GCZ performing flight MS-875 from Cairo (Egypt) to Lagos (Nigeria) with 81 passengers, was enroute near Kano (Nigeria) when the oil quantity of the left hand engine (CFM56) rapidly decreased prompting the crew the reduce the engine to idle thrust and divert to Kano for a safe landing.

Maintenance identied an oil leak from the starter exhaust and repaired the aircraft.

The aircraft was able to continue the flight the following day.
