A Cavok Air Antonov AN-12, registration UR-CJN performing a charter cargo flight from Basel/Mulhouse (Switzerland/France) to Larnaca (Cyprus) carrying medical supplies, was climbing out of Basel when the #3 engine (inboard right hand) produced "dangerous vibrations" prompting the crew to shut the engine down and return to Basel/Mulhouse for a safe landing.

The French BEA reported in their weekly bulletin that the aircraft encountered indication of "dangerous vibrations" of engine #3, the crew shut the engine down and returned to Mulhouse. The occurrence was rated an incident, the investigation has been delegated to the Ukraine.

A replacement Antonov AN-12 registration UR-CKL carried the cargo to its ultimate destination Damaskus (Syria) via Larnaca.

Another AN-12 registration UR-CKM carried a replacement engine to Basel/Mulhouse. The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground and is currently estimated to depart Basel/Mulhouse on Jun 27th.
