A Bahamasair de Havilland Dash 8-300, flight UP-343 from Nassau to Eleuthera South/Rock Sound (Bahamas) with 46 passengers and 3 crew, was descending towards Eleuthera about 25nm out when the right hand engine caught fire. The crew shut the engine down, activated the engine fire suppression system which extinguished the fire and continued for a safe landing at Eleuthera's Rock Sound Airport.

The cause of the engine fire is being investigated by the airline, Bahamas' Civil Aviation Authority reported.
