A Jazz Canadair CRJ-705, registration C-FLJZ performing flight QK-8117 from Toronto,ON (Canada) to Houston,TX (USA) with 68 people on board, was enroute at FL360 about 60nm northeast of Memphis,TN (USA) when the crew received indication of split elevators. The crew worked the related checklist instructing them to divert to the nearest airport and diverted to Memphis for a safe landing about 25 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance determined the elevator power control unit was out of rig. The PCUs were rigged and the position transmitters checked with no faults identified. Operational tests and subsequent flight tests revealed no further fault and the aircraft was returned to service.
