An Expressjet Embraer ERJ-145 on behalf of United, registration N16981 performing flight EV-4487 from Houston,TX to Louisville,KY (USA), was on final approach to Louisville's runway 35L when the aircraft was struck by lightning. The crew continued for a safe landing on the runway.

The FAA reported the aircraft received minor damage as result of the lightning strike on final approach.

The aircraft remained on the ground throughout May 17th and resumed service on May 18th.
