The BEA reported in their weekly bulletin that a Boeing 777 was taking off on the active runway 30R at that time at 18:34L (14:34Z). The Civil Aviation Authority of the United Arab Emirates is investigating the runway incursion rated a serious incident.
According to radar data an Emirates Boeing 777-200 registration A6-EMG performing flight EK-602 from Dubai to Karachi (Pakistan) was departing runway 30R at about 18:34L.
On May 6th 2014 it became known to The Aviation Herald, that an Emirates Boeing 777-200 freighter, registration A6-EFK performing freight flight EK-9891 from Dubai to Seoul (South Korea), was accelerating for takeoff from runway 30R at about 18:39L (14:39Z) when air traffic control instructed the aircraft to stop (due to the Airbus A320 taxiing past the hold short line). The crew rejected takeoff at high speed (about 90 knots) and slowed safely. A6-EFK taxied back to the holding point of runway 30R and departed about 5 minutes later. An observer on the ground reported that a few minutes later Dubai police cars were racing across the aerodrome obviously to check with the crew of the Airbus A320.
