A JAL Japan Airlines Boeing 787-800, registration JA829J performing flight JL-2 (dep Mar 9th) from Tokyo Haneda (Japan) to San Francisco,CA (USA) with 160 passengers and 11 crew, was enroute at FL400 over the Pacific Ocean about 930nm north of Honolulu,HI (USA) when the crew received indication of dropping oil pressure for the right hand engine (GEnx) and shut the engine down. The aircraft drifted down to FL250 while the crew set course to the south towards Honolulu. The aircraft landed safely in Honolulu about 2.5 hours later.

The airline said they are investigating the cause of the dropping oil pressure.
