A Lufthansa Boeing 747-400, registration D-ABVH performing flight LH-757 from Mumbai (India) to Frankfurt/Main (Germany) with 249 passengers and 16 crew, was enroute about 3:30 hours into the flight when the first officer (40, 8,410 hours total, 4,146 hours on type) reported he felt unwell, shortly after the first officer vomitted. The crew called for a doctor via PA, a doctor on board reported and provided an infusion to the first officer. About one hour later the doctor informed the captain that the first officer was improving. About 3 hours after reporting unwell the first officer attempted to return to the cockpit but was unable to keep on his feet, the first officer remained under supervision by the doctor for the remainder of the flight. For the approach and landing the purser entered the cockpit and took the seat of the first officer. The captain completed the flight with a safe landing on Frankfurt's runway 25L. Frankfurt Airport's medical services provided assistance to the first officer after the aircraft arrived at the gate.

Germany's BFU released their Final Report in German stating the investigation into the serious incident was terminated after stating the facts but without conclusion.
