A VivaAerobus Boeing 737-300, flight VB-9160 from Cancun to Tuxtla Gutierrez (Mexico) with 103 passengers and 5 crew, was enroute near Villahermosa (located about 80nm northeast of Tuxtla Gutierrez) when the aircraft lost cabin pressure prompting the crew to divert to Villahermosa for a safe landing at approx 16:00L (21:00Z).

Following repairs the aircraft continued the flight and reached Tuxtla Gutierrez with a delay of about 5:15 hours.

The airline reported the depressurization was result of a lightning strike, the aircraft received minor damage that could be repaired in Villahermosa.

Passengers however were distressed with the decision to continue to destination on the incident aircraft.
