A Canadian North Boeing 737-300, registration C-GCNZ performing flight 5T-1525 from Moncton,NB to Winnipeg,MB (Canada) with 98 people on board, was on final approach to Winnipeg's runway 31 about 5nm before touchdown when the crew received a fire indication for the APU. The crew declared emergency and continued the approach, about 1nm before touchdown the crew advised the fire indication had extinguished. The aircraft landed safely, emergency services attended the aircraft on the runway but found no trace of fire.

The Canadian TSB reported that the aircraft following 5T-1525 was instructed to go-around to facilitate the emergency services response. An inspection of the aircraft identified that no fire had occurred.
