An Air Mauritius Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-500, registration 3B-NBG performing flight MK-314 from Mauritius to Rodrigues Island (Mauritius) with 20 passengers, was on short final to Rodrigues when problems with one of the engines prompted the crew to initiate a go around. The aircraft climbed out to safety, aborted another approach and managed a safe landing on the third approach.

The airline confirmed a minor technical problem, the crew followed standard operating procedures to assess and correct the situation. The return flight MK-135 was cancelled for repairs of the aircraft.

Passengers reported that the aircraft was moments before touchdown when it suddenly rolled to the side, then climbed out. A second approach failed as well, the third approach resulted in a good landing.
