A Qantas Airways Boeing 747-400, registration VH-OEH performing flight QF-7 from Sydney,NS (Australia) to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA), landed on Dallas Ft. Worth's runway 35L at about 13:30L (19:30Z) but sustained damage to both outboard engines' (CF6, #1 and #4) fan blades and thrust reversers as well as to the flaps due to ingesting snow and ice from the runway. The aircraft rolled out safely and taxied to the terminal. No injuries occurred, the aircraft sustained minor damage.

A replacement Boeing 747-400 registration VH-OEI departed for the return flight QF-8 with a delay of 2.5 hours.

The incident aircraft was able to resume service on Dec 13th.

The airline reported: "On December 7th flight QF7 to Dallas required maintenance following snow and ice damage on arrival. This was a result of the runway not being cleared sufficiently for a wide body aircraft. The incident required routine engine maintenance and repairs to minor flap damage. The maintenance was delayed due to restricted hangar access in Dallas and weather conditions, The aircraft remained out of service until suitable arrangements could be made."

Local Dallas media reported Dallas had been hit by extremely cold weather on Dec 6th and Dec 7th hampering traffic with black ice on the roads.
