An Air Zimbabwe Boeing 737-200, registration Z-WPA performing flight UM-322 from Harare to Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) with 30 passengers, was climbing out of Harare when the crew needed to shut an engine (JT8D) down. The aircraft returned to Harare for a safe landing about 20 minutes after departure.

A number of passengers were rebooked onto flights via Bulawayo (Zimbabwe), the rest was taken to Victoria Falls by an Embraer ERJ-145 registration ZS-BBH with a delay of about 7.5 hours.

The airline confirmed flight UM-322 returned to Harare due to a minor technical problem.
