A Piedmont de Havilland Dash 8-300 on behalf of US Airways, registration N329EN performing flight US-4303 from New Bern,NC to Charlotte,NC (USA) with 50 passengers and 3 crew, was in the initial climb out of New Bern when the crew did not receive a gear safe indication after retracting the gear due to a gear door remaining open. The aircraft returned to New Bern for a safe landing about one hour after departure.

The airline confirmed a landing gear door did not close properly prompting the crew to return to New Bern.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
