A JAL Japan Airlines Boeing 787-800, registration JA825J performing flight JL-65 from San Diego,CA (USA) to Tokyo Narita (Japan), was enroute at FL360 about 35 minutes into the flight when the crew decided to return to San Diego due to a fault indication for the aircraft's anti-ice systems. The aircraft landed safely back in San Diego about 80 minutes after departure.

The airline confirmed the aircraft returned due to an indication for anti-ice systems of the aircraft.

The incident aircraft was repaired, departed again after about 4 hours on the ground and is estimated to reach Tokyo with a delay of 5.5 hours.
