SA Express CRJ2 near East London on May 15th 2013, cracked windshield causes loss of cabin pressure

A SA Express Canadair CRJ-200, flight XZ-1331/SA-1331 from Port Elizabeth to Durban (South Africa), was enroute at FL280 near East London (South Africa) when the left hand windshield cracked causing the loss of cabin pressure resulting in the passenger oxygen masks to be released. The crew initiated an emergency descent and diverted to East London for a safe landing.

The passengers were rebooked onto another flight to Johannesburg and further to Durban.
