A Saudi Arabian Airlines Airbus A320-200, registration HZ-AS18 performing flight SV-311 from Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) to Cairo (Egypt), was climbing out of Riyadh's runway 33R when the crew stopped the climb at FL150 due to a cracked window and descended the aircraft to 5000 feet and entered a hold to burn off fuel, later climbed to 7000 feet. The aircraft landed safely back on Riyadh's runway 33L about 100 minutes after departure.

The rotations SV-311/SV-310 as well as SV-313/SV-312 (scheduled to be flown by an Airbus 321) to Cairo and back were cancelled.

An Air Atlanta Icelandic Boeing 747-400 registration TF-AMT performed one replacement rotation SV-2034/SV-2035 instead delivering the passengers of SV-311 with a delay of 9 hours, the passengers of SV-313 with a delay of 90 minutes to Cairo and the passengers of SV-310 with a delay of 8.5 hours, the passengers of SV-312 with a delay of 60 minutes to Riyadh.
