A Germanwings Airbus A319-100, registration D-AGWJ performing flight 4U-4594 from Dortmund (Germany) to Palma Mallorca,SP (Spain) with 120 passengers, was enroute at FL370 about 60nm northnortheast of Geneva (Switzerland) when the crew donned their oxygen masks, declared emergency reporting fumes in the cockpit and diverted the aircraft to Geneva. Geneva Airport kept the runway sterile for about 20 minutes stopping departures and sending arrivals into holds, one of the arrivals had to divert to Zurich (Switzerland) as result. The incident aircraft landed safely on Geneva's runway 23 about 19 minutes after leaving FL370, the crew was still on oxygen masks during landing. The aircraft taxied to the apron, where the passengers disembarked normally.

A replacement Airbus A319-100 registration D-AGWL was dispatched to Geneva, continued the flight and reached Palma Mallorca with a delay of 4.5 hours.
