A Delta Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration N811NW performing flight DL-620 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Detroit,MI (USA) with 293 people on board, was enroute at FL350 at approximately 40W when the crew observed a high integrated drive generator (IDG) oil temperature indication for the left hand generator (engine PW4168A) and decided to divert to St. John's,NL (Canada) for a safe landing about 80 minutes later.

The Canadian TSB reported maintenance replaced the #1 IDG and #1 oil inlet line, the systems checked normal and the aircraft returned to service.

The incident aircraft positioned to Detroit the following day after 25 hours on the ground at St. John's.
