A Qantas Boeing 747-400, registration VH-OJI performing flight QF-5 from Sydney,NS (Australia) to Singapore (Singapore), was enroute at FL340 about 90 minutes into the flight about 450nm north of Adelaide,SA (Australia) when all cabin lighting failed prompting the crew to return to Sydney for a safe routine landing on runway 16R about 3 hours after departure.

A replacement Boeing 747-400 registration VH-OJJ reached Singapore with a delay of 6 hours.
