A Shuttle America Embraer ERJ-175 on behalf of Delta Airlines, registration N202JQ performing flight S5-7309/DL-7309 from Indianapolis,IN to New York La Guardia,NY (USA) with 80 people on board, was in the initial climb out of Indianapolis' runway 23L when the crew reported engine trouble and requested an immediate return to the airport. The crew stopped the climb at 3000 feet, reported they had engine vibrations on the right hand engine, extended the downwind to run checklists and landed safely back on runway 23L about 20 minutes after departure.

A replacement ERJ-170 registration N868RW reached New York with a delay of 2 hours.

Post flight inspection revealed one fan blade of the right hand engine had been bent by a bird strike.
