An Aeroflot Airbus A320-200, registration VP-BKX performing flight SU-1821 from Simferopol (Ukraine) to Moscow Sheremetyevo (Russia), was climbing through FL220 out of Simferopol when the right hand engine (CFM56) shut down by itself. The aircraft returned to Simferopol for a safe landing.

Ukraine's Ministry of Transport reported the investigation into the occurrence has been delegated to Russia.
