An Asky Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration ET-AXI performing flight KP-71 from Kinshasa N'Djili (DR Congo) to Lome (Togo), was climbing out of N'Djili's runway 06 when the crew stopped the climb at FL120 due to an engine (CFM56) fault and decided to return to N'Djili. The aircraft landed safely back on N'Djili's runway 24 about 20 minutes after departure.

A passenger reported the aircraft developed an engine fault and returned to Kinshasa. Left without information the passengers waited until the next day until another aircraft took them to Lome, however, without luggage. They were told the luggage would come the following day (two days after the occurrence flight), however, the luggage did not show up.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Kinshasa until Jul 24th 2025 before positioning to Lome and returning to service on Jul 25th 2025.

On Jan 27th 2026 DR Congo's BPEA reported the FDR and CVR of ET-AXI had been taken to the Laboratory of the BEA France for download and decryption following a serious incident. An investigation is ongoing.
