Ground crews intervened, the aircraft was subsequently able to taxi to the apron about 40 minutes after coming to a stop.
The airport reported the aircraft suffered an operational event in heavy snowfall. Ground crew assisted to clear the aircraft from the runway and guided it along the taxiways.
The aircraft was able to resume service about 2.5 hours after landing.
On Jan 19th 2026 the airline sent following statement: "the Wizz Air aircraft operating a commercial flight on the Milan Bergamo (BGY) - Sibiu (SBZ) route was involved in a ground operational event after a safe landing at Sibiu International Airport. The landing took place in conditions of snowfall, with the runway having been cleared and declared operational at the time of the aircrafts arrival, in accordance with the applicable snow-removal procedures. After landing, during the turning manoeuvre to position toward the parking apron, the aircraft reached the end of the runway. Due to poorer friction and to ensure the safest outcome, the ground teams assisted in taxiing the aircraft from the runway in order not to disrupt airport traffic, and with scheduled flights being handled in accordance with the flight schedule. The situation happened on the ground with low speed and ended uneventfully. Disembarkation was carried out in accordance with standard operational procedures."
