An Emirates Boeing 777-200, registration A6-EWB performing flight EK-929 from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Cairo (Egypt), was enroute at FL360 over Saudi Arabia when the crew initiated an emergency descent, the passenger oxygen masks deployed, due to the loss of cabin pressure. The aircraft entered a hold at 9000 feet before the crew decided to return to Dubai at 9000 feet. The aircraft landed safely on runway 30L about 2 hours after leaving FL360.

The airline reported a component failure in the air conditioning system resulted in cabin pressurization issues causing the oxygen masks to be released, there were no injuries.

A replacement Boeing 777-300 registration A6-ECE reached Cairo with a delay of about 8 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Dubai 57 hours after landing back.
