An Easyjet Airbus A320-200, registration OE-IVZ performing flight U2-3557 from Milan Malpensa to Lamezia Terme (Italy), was descending through about FL250 towards Lamezia Terme when the right hand engine (CFM56) failed and emitted flames. The crew shut the engine down, entered a hold descending from 6000 to 3000 feet and landed safely on Lamezia's runway 10 about 23 minutes later.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Lamezia Terme on Jan 2nd 2026 six days later.
