A SAS Scandinavian Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration OY-KBB performing flight SK-1635 from Copenhagen (Denmark) to Frankfurt/Main (Germany), was enroute at FL390 about 60nm northeast of Hanover (Germany) when the crew initiated an emergency descent due to the loss of cabin pressure reaching FL100 about 6 minutes later (average rate of descent 4800 fpm). The aircraft diverted to Hanover for a safe landing on runway 09L about 20 minutes after leaving FL390.

The remainder of the flight and the return flight were cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
