An Eastern Australia de Havilland Dash 8-200 on behalf of Qantas, registration VH-TQS performing flight QF-2260 from Sydney,NS to Lord Howe Island,NS (Australia) with 30 passengers, was climbing through FL140 out of Sydney when the crew stopped the climb reporting the air conditioning system malfunctioned causing the cabin to overheat, medical assistance was needed. The aircraft burned off fuel at 6000 feet and returned to Sydney for a safe landing about 75 minutes after departure. Two passengers were taken to hospitals.

Qantas confirmed the malfunction of an air conditioning system caused an overheat of about 40 degrees C in the cabin, two passengers were taken to hospitals with symptoms of dehydration, a number of passengers were assessed at the airport for dehydration too.
