The airline reported a technical issue.
The aircraft is still on the ground in Amsterdam about 8 hours after landing.
On Aug 1st 2025 the Dutch Onderzoeksraad reported the crew declared Mayday after detecting the smell of smoke in the cockpit. Subsequently they experienced problems with their autoflight system (no autopilot, no autothrust), the aircraft diverted to Amsterdam for a safe landing on runway 22. The occurrence was rated a serious incident and is being investigated by the DSB.
On Jul 20th 2026 the DSB reported:
During the flight, the pilots noticed smoke coming from one of the panels in the cockpit, after which the aircraft’s autoflight systems failed. The pilots then executed emergency procedures and decided to divert to Schiphol. The emergency landing was completed without further incident, and no one was injured.
The investigation focusses on the following aspects:
- the source of the smoke;
- the failure of the autoflight systems;
- the operational aspects of the flight.
In September 2025, the inspections and tests on a component of the cockpit were completed. These took place at the manufacturer of the relevant part. The investigation is currently in a final phase.
