An Iberia Airbus A319-100, registration EC-KHM performing flight IB-742 from Munich (Germany) to Madrid,SP (Spain) with 134 passengers and 5 crew, was on approach to Madrid's runway 18L descending through about 8000 feet when upon intercepting the final approach course went across the extended center lines of both runways 18L and 18R and veered into the approach path of an Iberia A350-900 on approach to runway 18R before aligning with runway 18L.

An Iberia Airbus A350-900, registration EC-NIG performing flight IB-126 (dep May 3rd) from Lima (Peru) to Madrid,SP (Spain) with 347 passengers and 12 crew, was on final approach to runway 18R descending through about 8000 feet.

Spain's CIAIAC reported a conflict alert forecast warning activated when the aircraft were about 1.4nm horizontally apart. Both aircraft continued for landings without further incident. The occurrence is being investigated by the CIAIAC.
