A KLM Boeing 747-400, registration PH-BFK performing flight KL-685 from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Mexico City (Mexico), was enroute at FL320 about one hour into the Atlantic crossing when the crew turned around and returned to Amsterdam for a safe landing on runway 06 about 2.5 hours later.

A replacement Boeing 747-400 registration PH-BFH reached Mexico City with a delay of 7 hours.

A passenger reported the captain announced one of the cockpit windows had been damaged without any cause from the outside, the damage wasn't serious but required repair which was best done in Amsterdam.
