An American Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration N717AN performing flight AA-735 from London Heathrow,EN (UK) to Charlotte,NC (USA), landed on Charlotte's runway 36R and slowed to taxi speed. The aircraft turned left off the runway onto taxiway A (acute angle) when the left main gear went over soft ground. The aircraft continued taxi to the apron.

The aircraft was unable to continue service and is still on the ground in Charlotte about 22 hours after landing.

The FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT LANDED AND WHILE TURNING ONTO TAXIWAY, LEFT WHEEL WENT INTO THE GRASS, CHARLOTTE, NC."
