An American Airlines Boeing 777-300, registration N717AN performing flight AA-80 from Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA) to London Heathrow,EN (UK) with 278 people on board, was enroute at FL330 about 150nm eastnortheast of Tulsa,OK (USA) when the crew decided to divert to Tulsa landing on runway 36R (active runways 18) about 35 minutes after leaving FL330. The crew requested emergency services to check their brakes due to landing overweight, emergency services reported everything normal and the aircraft taxied to the apron.

A passenger reported the captain announced they were diverting to Tulsa as a precaution due to a mechanical issue.

The airline reported the aircraft diverted due to a possible mechanical issue.

A replacement Boeing 777-300 registration N778AN positioned from Dallas to Tulsa, took the passengers back to Dallas and from there to London reaching London as flight AA-50 with a delay of about 18 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for 24 hours, then positioned to Dallas Ft. Worth and is still on the ground in Dallas about 14 hours after landing there.
