A pilot amongst the passengers assisted the first officer reading checklists while the first officer descended the aircraft and landed safely on Johannesburg's runway 03R.

The airline reported the captain felt unwell during the latter stages of the flight and advised the first officer to assume full control of the aircraft for the remainder of the flight. The first officer requested priority with ATC and asked for qualified pilots amongst the passengers, luckily a qualified pilot was on board who assisted the first officer with reading checklists, but did not do any flying duties. The first officer conducted a seamless landing into Johannesburg. The captain was taken care of by medical staff awaiting the aircraft. The aircraft was towed to the apron.
